We are Felix and Max.
The Braunstein Brothers.
We two are twin brothers.
Inseparable.
Headstrong, but firmly connected.
Blutsbrüder.
We make wine together. But completely different, the way we want it.
This is our own wine line, and that's what it's called: Braunstein Brothers.
We are young and wild, but certainly not superficial.
In addition to wine, we have another passion: boxing. This requires quick reactions as well as perseverance. In addition, manual work and footwork are required for boxing - as in the vineyard and when stamping in the vats. Boxing needs fairness. Winemaking requires respect and respect.
The wines
We bottled the first two wines with the 2020 vintage. Once white, once red. In both cases we have let nature take its course: spontaneous fermentation on the stems, longer maceration, aging in amphora, in wood, in steel tanks. Bottled without sulphur, unfiltered.
The result?
Original, but still harmonious,
lots of aroma, lots of character – and simply great to drink.
Nature sets the pace
We learned almost everything we know about wine from our mother.
Birgit Braunstein is a well-known name in the Austrian wine scene. Above all, she has been a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture for 20 years.
Intact nature, the balance between plants, animals and human activity, concern for healthy soil and a stable ecosystem - all of this has always been the focus of Birgit Braunstein's work. That's why we can only imagine one type of viticulture: biodynamic, natural, honest.
Our foundation
Purbach lies at the foot of the Leitha Mountains and on the shore of Lake Neusiedl. Here our vines grow on shell limestone, slate and crystalline quartz and benefit from the unusual microclimate. Above all, the soil is wonderfully healthy. Part of the vines are now our responsibility. We process them according to our ideas.
Of roots and wings
We absorbed our understanding of nature early on. In our region on the Leithaberg, viticulture has been practiced for more than 2000 years. The Celts brought the wine to us. This is where our roots lie, and we build on this tradition. But now we give her wings.
We have seen a lot of the world and learned a lot in the process. For example, that we can best realize our visions here at our origin. But also that passion and having fun at work are the best and most important things to create really good wine.
